Portrait of Bigfin Reef Squid

Portrait photograph of an underwater creature called the Bigfin Reef Squid, found at Tokyo Sea Life Park, an aquarium in Edogawa, Tokyo, Japan. The Bigfin Reef Squid, scientifically named Sepioteuthis lessoniana, is a species of loliginid squid/loliginidae and is characterized by a large oval fin. The fin enlarges throughout the margins of its mantle, which gives it a superficial resemblance to the cuttlefish. These underwater creatures are small to medium-sized squids, averaging 3.8 to 33 centimeters (1.5 to 13.0 in) in length.

The Bigfin Reef Squid (Sepioteuthis lessoniana) is commonly known by different names such as the tiger squid, glitter squid, oval squid, or the northern calamari. It lives in different locations of coastal waters like in the shallow water of Japan, including Tokyo Bay, Okinawa, and other warm-water regions. It belongs to the class Cephalopoda, the family Loliginidae, the genus Sepioteuthis, the phylum Mollusca, and the order Myopsida. This (subject) is classified in the domain Eukaryota and the kingdom Animalia.
